Dentist Arrested in Deadly Jewelry Heist

March 30, 1995

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (AP) _ A dentist has been arrested in a heist that left a jewelry store owner’s wife dead, authorities said Wednesday.

Dr. Harry Insabella was arrested Tuesday and arraigned on murder, robbery and weapons charges. He was jailed on $1 million bail.

Prosecutor Nicholas L. Bissell Jr. said Insabella was the local contact for four men who flew in from Kansas City to rob the store on March 14.

Authorities tracked Insabella through phone calls and credit card records that put him in touch with one suspect around the time of the crime, Bissell said.

During the holdup, proprietor Jeffrey Wolf fired several shots. Authorities say one shot killed his wife, Brenda, and others wounded one robber.

Authorities said Insabella had sold stolen jewelry to Wolf and his wife. Wolf’s lawyer said the couple had no idea it was stolen.

Three other suspects in the case are in custody, and authorities are still searching for another man.
