Japan international Horie signs new Rebels deal
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Japanese international Shota Horie has extended his contract with Super 15′s Melbourne Rebels for another year.
Horie, who has played 23 tests for Japan, was in his national team’s lineup when it beat an undermanned Wales 23-8 last month, its first win over a top-tier nation.
Rebels assistant coach Matt Cockbain said Shota “is one of the most skillful forwards in the competition ... his application and professionalism is world class.”
Horie will face fellow Japanese international and Highlanders halfback Fumiaki Tanaka in the Rebels’ final match of the year on July 12 in Melbourne.
