Red Cross assisting individual after house burns down Monday
The American Red Cross is assisting a local individual after his or her home was severely damaged in a fire Monday.
Fire crews with the Aiken Department of Public Safety responded to a house fire on Briar Patch Lane on Monday afternoon.
The fire was controlled and no one was injured, police reported.
Disaster-trained volunteers with the American Red Cross responded to the scene and are now assisting one adult by providing financial assistance for food, clothing, lodging and other essentials, which includes comfort kits containing personal hygiene items, according to a release.
Aiken Public Safety is now investigating the cause of the fire.
