KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ DaShay Jones scored 17 points to lead Tennessee to a 57-47 victory over Memphis on Sunday.

Freshman C.J. Black came off the bench to score 16 and grab nine rebounds for Tennessee (3-2), which held Memphis (1-4) to 28 percent shooting. In the first half, Memphis went 4-for-25 from the floor and scored 10 points. The Tigers only scored three points in the final 13 minutes of the first half.

Tennessee shot 43 percent from the field.

Tennessee led 22-10 at the break. Memphis regrouped in the second half, cutting the lead to 33-31 on a bucket by Harry Allen with 9:27 left in the game. Allen, who finished with 11 points, later hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 40-39 with six minutes left.

Tennessee answered by scoring the game’s next nine points, including a three-point play from Jones, who hit a layup and was fouled after a steal.

Cedric Henderson, the Tigers’ leading scorer, had 14 points but was limited to two points during the game’s final 12 minutes.
