Eastern Washington star Jay-Tee Tiuli out for FCS national title game

FRISCO, Texas - Eastern Washington nose tackle Jay-Tee Tiuli, the Big Sky Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year, will not play in today’s FCS national championship game against North Dakota State, according to multiple sources close to the situation.

Tiuli was suspended for the Eagles’ FCS semifinal game against Maine after he was arrested Dec. 9 for on an eventual charge of second-degree misdemeanor assault.

EWU head coach Aaron Best told reporters Friday that he didn’t know Tiuli’s status for the today’s game and was “eagerly awaiting the news.”

Tiuli, a senior, made the trip with the team, but was wearing street clothes on the field before kickoff.
