Man slashed in the face with knife on Public Square in downtown Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 25-year-old man suffered a slash-wound to his face as he tried to break up a fight in downtown Cleveland, police say.

The incident happened about 1:20 a.m. Saturday on the northwest corner of Public Square, police reports say.

A 25-year-old man told police he saw a man and woman fighting. The man tried to break up the fight and stepped between the two.

The man pulled out a knife and hit the man with the knife in his hand, connecting with both his fist and slicing his face above the left eyebrow, according to police reports.

The man walked to a hot dog vendor on the street, who called 911. The 25-year-old man was taken to St. Vincent Charity Hospital, where he was treated with stitches and released.

No arrests have been made in the case.
