Fire Engulfs Four Buildings in East Boston; 15 Homeless

BOSTON (AP) _ Fire engulfed four triple-decker homes Saturday morning, leaving at least 15 people homeless. Seven firefighters were treated for minor injuries.

Two of the buildings were believed to be vacant; two others were occupied, according to the mayor’s office.

The American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay helped the people displaced by the fire find temporary housing, agency spokeswoman Natasha Bramble said.

Heavy smoke from the fire in the East Boston neighborhood could be seen at nearby Logan International Airport.
