DETROIT (AP) _ Outfielder Bobby Higginson was activated Thursday from the 15-day disabled list by the Detroit Tigers and right-hander Fernando Rodney was been recalled from Triple-A Toledo.

Detroit placed first baseman Dimitri Young on the 15-day disabled list because of a hernia, a move retroactive to July 6. Third baseman Chris Truby was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 4, with a pulled ribcage muscle.

Higginson had been sidelined with a pulled left hamstring since June 9. In 55 games this season, he is batting .288 with five homers and 30 RBIs.
