Police investigate tractor-trailer crash that closed highway

WILMINGTON, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that shut down a major highway and almost injured a seven-month old baby.

Police say the crash happened Monday night when a 25-year-old Brockton man rear-ended a tractor-trailer on Interstate 93 that had slowed down due to heavy traffic.

The driver has not been identified. He was flown to a Boston hospital, where is being treated for serious injuries.

Police say the 30-year-old man from Atkinson, New Hampshire, who was driving the tractor-trailer was not injured. The southbound lanes were closed on Interstate 93 for about 30 minutes.

Authorities are still trying to determine the cause of the crash. No charges have been filed.
