JAGUARS-ALLEN

JACKSONVILLE _ Jacksonville Jaguars rookie defensive end Josh Allen sat out practice Thursday after bruising his right knee during the team’s first practice of organized team activities. Coach Doug Marrone made the announcement two days after Allen got hurt and said there’s “zero” concern for his long-term health. But Marrone added that team doctors plan to be cautious with his return.

DOLPHINS MOVES

DAVIE _ Defensive tackle Adolphus Washington has signed with the Miami Dolphins, his fourth team since the start of last season. Washington was a third-round pick by Buffalo in 2016 and started 21 games in his first two seasons. He was cut by the Bills last September, spent a brief time on the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad and then joined the Cincinnati Bengals, where he played in only four games and was slowed by a knee injury. Cincinnati released him a month ago.

BROWNS-MCCOY

CLEVELAND _ The Browns will get to show Gerald McCoy how far they’ve come. The free-agent defensive tackle, released earlier this week by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will visit Cleveland on Friday. General manager John Dorsey said the meeting will be an opportunity for both sides to see if they want a future together. By Tom Withers.

College Football:

SOUTH FLORIDA-ALABAMA SERIES

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. _ Alabama and South Florida will start a three-game football series in the 2023 season. The schools announced Thursday they’ll play in Tampa, Florida on Sept. 16, 2023. They’ll meet in Tuscaloosa the following season on Sept. 7 and again Sept. 12, 2026.

RICHAUN HOLMES-ARREST

MIAMI _ Phoenix Suns big man Richaun Holmes was arrested for misdemeanor possession of cannabis after a Miami-area traffic stop. Twenty-five-year-old Holmes was arrested Tuesday night along with former Brooklyn Nets forward James Webb III after authorities say the found a recently used marijuana joint inside their vehicle.
