May 7, 2019

The National Weather Service issues significant weather advisory for Northwestern Caribou, Bonneville, and Southeastern Bingham counties until 4 p.m.

At 2:42 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking gusty outflow winds along a line extending from 9 miles southeast of Fort Hall Lincoln Creek Lodge to near Fort Hall Mount Putnam. Movement was southeast at 20 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include: Blackfoot Reservoir, Chesterfield Reservoir, Henry, Chesterfield, Cutthroat Trout Campground and Trail Creek Campground.

If on or near Blackfoot Reservoir or Chesterfield Reservoir, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm.

If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now. Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
