Yes, you can see ‘Hamilton’ in Cleveland for $10: Here’s how

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Even though “Hamilton” is sold out in Cleveland, fans should not throw away their shot to win tickets for $10.

There will be a digital lottery for all shows, July 17 to August 26 at Playhouse Square’s KeyBank State Theatre. About 60,000 tickets sold out in a matter of hours, according to the Plain Dealer’s Andrea Simakis.

Since its release in 2015, “Hamilton,” a musical telling the story of founding father Alexander Hamilton, has earned 11 Tony awards and drawn crowds to theaters. Prices skyrocket for tickets, but $10 tickets made available through lotteries have made the show slightly more accessible.

Since Playhouse Square announced in June 2016 that the touring company of Hamilton was coming, Cleveland’s Hamilton anticipation has been palpable.

Now it’s only one week away.

In Cleveland, 37 $10 tickets will be available in each lottery. Here’s how to enter:

Download the “Hamilton” app for iOS or Android or save this URL (bookmarking it might be a good idea if you’re going to try multiple times). Mark your calendars. You’ll enter the lottery two days before the show date. For the first show on July 17, the lottery will open July 15. The lottery will open at 11 a.m. two days before the show day. Enter. There’s only one entry per person, but if you win you can buy two tickets. You don’t need to enter payment information when you initially apply.Wait. You’ll get notified if you’ve won either by email or SMS by 11 a.m. the day before the performance. Once you get that notification, you have until 4 p.m. to buy your tickets with a credit card online. They are $10. Pick up your tickets at will call beginning two hours before the performance. Keep in mind these tickets aren’t transferable and you need a photo ID to pick them up.

Performances are Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m and Sundays at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
