Rain to affect morning and afternoon commutes
Give yourself some extra time and more distance between vehicles Tuesday because both the morning and afternoon commutes will be wet.
Add some leaves that have already fallen on the roads and conditions can also be slick.
Showers started to fall in southwest Connecticut around 3 a.m. Tuesday.
The rain will become heavier this morning and continue through the afternoon commute.
Heavy downpours could also cause some ponding on the roads.
As of 6:30 a.m., no major accidents are reported on the state’s major highways.
We have the usual soundbound congestion on the Merritt Parkway (between Trumbull and Westport) and I-95 (between Bridgeport and Fairfield).
