Oil Boats Crash in La., One Dead
VENICE, La. (AP) _ A Chevron employee was killed and two others were hurt early Wednesday when an offshore oil crew boat and an oil rig supply vessel collided in thick fog.
The Kristin Grace collided with the supply boat, the Cane River, knocking a hole in the right side of the Kristin Grace, just above the waterline. The Cane River reported no damage, the Coast Guard said.
A 34-year-old member of the Kristin Grace crew died of head injuries. Two others suffered leg injuries.
The crash occurred in an area called Cubit’s Gap, near where the Gulf of Mexico meets the Mississippi River.
