NE Illinois 100, Central Connecticut 99 OT

CHICAGO (AP) _ Monte O’Quinn blocked what could have been Central Connecticut’s game-winning jumper with less than a second left in overtime to seal Northeastern Illinois’ 100-99 win Monday.

The Golden Eagles (6-6, 2-1) battled back from 19 points down at halftime, 38-19, to tie the game at 92 and then win the Mid-Continent Conference game.

Andrell Hoard’s 21 second half points led the way. Hoard scored 31 points for the game. O’Quinn scored 23 points and had 18 rebounds.

Central Connecticut (5-6, 2-2) had five players in double figures. D. Edwards had 19 points, Keith Closs had 17, Derek Dunlap had 13, Bill Langheim had 12 and Noah O’Daniel had 10.
