Thursday’s prep roundup: Winhawks girls win third straight swim meet

OWATONNA, Minn. — Winona won its third girls swimming dual meet in a row as it racked up 99 points in a win at Owatonna on Thursday.

Mary Hoffman won the 50 freestyle in 26.33 seconds, while Carolyn Macon took third in 27.65.

Hoffman and Lauren Whyte finished first and second in the 100 free in 58.01 and 58.96.

The 200 free relay team of Lauren Whyte, Grace Miller, Mary Hoffman, and Kaylee Niemeyer won in 1:48.44.

Whyte won the 100 backstroke in 1:06.54.

GIRLS TENNIS

Winona 5, Red Wing 1

Winona swept doubles and took three of the four singles matches as they defeated Red Wing.

Emma Heinert won 6-1, 6-2 at first singles. Hannah Becker won 6-3, 7-5 at third singles. Molly Heinert won 6-4, 4-3 default at fourth singles.

Carson Johnson and Emily Hoven won 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at first doubles. Grace Buswell and Ella Bettich won 6-2, 6-4 at second doubles. Mac Leaf and Abby Fratzke won 6-4, 7-6 (5) at third doubles.

Rochester Lourdes 5, Cotter 1

Elanna Kohner got the lone win for the Ramblers at No. 4 singles, winning 6-3, 6-1.

BOYS SOCCER

La Crescent 4, SC/L-A 1

ST. CHARLES — Taylor Ties scored for St. Charles/Lewiston-Altura with an assist from Thomas Howard as it fell to La Crescent.

Damian Iglesias made 16 saves for the Saints.

LA CRESCENT, Minn. — St. Charles/Lewiston-Altura scored two goals in overtime as it defeated La Crescent.

Paige Schiebel and Mia Pierre scored for the Saints and Abbie Disbrow had an assist.

ST. CHARLES — Ciarra McNally had 16 kills for the Cardinals as they swept the Saints 27-25, 25-19, 25-19.

Gabby Speltz had 26 set assists for L-A, while Ella Miller had 13 kills.

Megan Shanahan had eight kills, nine digs, and three aces for SC, while Ashley Paul had 29 set assists, and Eli Welch had 11 kills and 12 digs.

Rushford-Peterson 3, Dover-Eyota 2

DOVER, Minn. — Lauren Lawston led the Trojans with 18 kills as they defeated the Eagles 25-10, 25-23, 30-28, 23-25, 15-8.

Alyia Eide had 25 digs, Kaitlin Bieberdorf and Kaleah Davis each had 10 kills, and Jaelyn Connaughty had 19 assists.

Houston 3, Schaeffer Academy 2

ROCHESTER, Minn. — Ariel Scanlan stuffed the stat sheet with 13 kills, 16 assists and 21 digs for the Hurricanes as they defeated Schaeffer Academy 27-25, 25-21, 28-30, 25-19, 16-14.

Jennifer Albrecht had 19 kills, 10 digs, and eight blocks, Alyssa Rostad had nine kills and 12 digs, and Casey Porter had 25 set assists and 12 digs.
