Two women arrested on multiple charges
NORFOLK - Two were arrested on multiple charges Sunday night.
According to Captain Mike Bauer, Norfolk Police were called to a business in the 1400 block of Riverside Boulevard for a suspicious vehicle.
The reporting party described a car that was in the parking lot of the business and that the business was not open, and there was also a woman who was yelling and then left walking to the south.
When officers arrived, they found the described vehicle parked in the lot. Officers had contact with the driver who was identified as 34-year-old Ashley Martin-Menard of Hastings. There was also another woman in the backseat of the car who was identified as 41-year-old Brandy Wolford of Clarkson.
A check of Wolford’s license showed five active arrest warrants from Colfax and Platte counties. She was taken into custody.
Officers also observed a single white pill sitting on the front passenger seat, and identified it as Alprazolam.
Martin-Menard did not have a prescription for the controlled medication.
Martin-Menard was asked to step out of the vehicle. When Martin-Menard stepped out of the vehicle, she attempted to conceal or ingest a plastic bag inside her mouth.
Officers prevented her from doing so, and the bag contained a crystal like substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Martin-Menard was arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Both females were housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
