3 charged in robbery, assault of Milford bicyclist

MILFORD - Three people have been arrested in connection with a robbery and assault of a man in which $3,000 in cash was taken.

The robbery happened around 2 a.m. Sept. 27 when the victim was riding his bicycle on the one-way section of Buckingham Avenue, near New Haven Avenue.

“The victim was riding his bicycle when he was approached by individuals in a motor vehicle,” Officer Joseph Dempsey said in a release. “The victim was knocked off his bicycle and hospitalized after suffering serious physical injuries. Personal items and $3,000 cash were stolen from the victim during the robbery.”

On Oct. 9, a Milford police officer conducted a motor vehicle stop of the suspect vehicle.

After an investigation head to the arresr of three people - two adults and one juvenile - were arrested.

On Oct. 15, Carlos Marrero, 25, of Colony Street in Bridgeport, was charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree assault, second-degree larceny, third-degree criminal mischief and driving the wrong way on a one-way highway. His next court appearance will be Dec. 12.

On Dec. 5, Jacob Marrero, 19, of Grant Street in Bridgeport, was charged with robbery and assault in the first degree and conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery. He will appear in Milford Superior Court on Jan. 2.

The juvenile’s name was not released because of their age.
