Universal Studios Raises Prices

April 15, 1998

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ Following Walt Disney World’s lead, Universal Studios Florida raised the price of a one-day pass to $44.52 on Wednesday.

The new price mirrors an upcoming price increase that Disney announced last week. It goes into effect April 22 when Disney opens its Animal Kingdom theme park.

The $44.52 price, including tax, applies to adults and children under age 9. Children ages 3 to 9 will pay $36.04 and children under age 3 get in free. Admission prices had been $42.14 for adults and $33.92 for children.

Universal spokesman Jim Canfield said the increase can be attributed to the addition of new attractions such as the multimillion-dollar Twister scheduled to open May 4.
