Memorial Day service planned at courthouse
A Memorial Day service will be held beginning at 9:30 a.m. Monday on the Somerset County Courthouse steps.
Neil Hoffman, a retired sergeant major who served with Pennsylvania Army National Guard Company B, 1st Battalion 103rd Armor, Johnstown, is the guest speaker. He will talk about fellow soldiers lost in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Pamela Tokar-Ickes is the master of ceremonies. There will be a wreath laying, a flag folding ceremony, a firing of rifles and a playing of taps. A patriotism award will be presented to a deserving individual or organization.
The Somerset Borough Memorial Day Parade will follow the service.
