    Groundbreaking on energy-efficient apartment project

    August 8, 2018

WEST LEBANON, N.H. (AP) — An affordable rental housing project in the works in New Hampshire is designed to save energy.

The Tracy Community building in West Lebanon will contain 29 apartment units. The groundbreaking was being held Wednesday.

Building project organizers and Democratic U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster say it will be the first net-zero multi-family building in the state, meaning it produces as much energy as it needs through renewable energy.

Project leaders said electric panels installed on the roof will provide enough energy to support the building’s needs for heating, air conditioning and hot water.

The goal is to have the apartments ready next summer.
