Russian Cosmonaut Khrunov Dies
MOSCOW (AP) _ Yevgeny Khrunov, a cosmonaut who roared into space 31 years ago, has died at the age of 67, the ITAR-Tass news agency reported Tuesday.
Khrunov was one of the team of cosmonauts that was named in honor of Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space. Khrunov’s space journey took place Jan. 15-17, 1969.
In recent years he had lived in Ostankino, a Moscow neighborhood where one of the landmarks is a monument depicting a rocket soaring aloft on a tail of smoke.
No information was given about the cause of death or about survivors.
