NY lawmakers to review economic impact of arts
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York lawmakers want to know more about the economic impact of arts and cultural organizations.
The state Assembly plans to hold a hearing Wednesday in Manhattan on the role arts organizations play in the state economy.
Leaders of organizations from around the state are expected to testify.
Lawmakers say the hearing will help them understand how state investments in arts organizations and cultural institutions can spur tourism, economic activity and job growth.
State figures indicate that arts and cultural organizations generated more than $114 billion in economic activity and employed more than 460,000 in 2015.
