Suspects in Woonsocket ATM robberies held
WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) — Three Woonsocket men police say were involved in robberies at drive-thru ATMs have been held without bail.
Twenty-two-year-old Matthew Squandrito; 20-year-old Joshua Correia; and 37-year-old Christopher Bellanti made their first appearance in court Monday. Bail hearings were scheduled for Jan. 2.
The Call (http://bit.ly/1x01z2l ) reports that they are charged with first-degree robbery.
Police say the men robbed customers at two drive-thru ATMs last week, in one case pointing a gun at the victim’s face. They got away with money in one case.
They are also suspects in a robbery at a drive-thru ATM in Milford, Massachusetts, although they have not been charged.
They were charged after two were captured in Uxbridge, Massachusetts on Saturday after fleeing a traffic stop in Woonsocket.
Police say they recovered several pellet guns.
