Cape Cod doctor faces child porn charges
MASHPEE, Mass. (AP) — A pediatrician who lives on Cape Cod and who once practiced in New York has been arrested on federal child pornography charges.
Prosecutors say 64-year-old Daniel O’Hern, of Mashpee, was arrested Tuesday on possession and distribution of child pornography charges.
He’s being held pending a bail hearing Friday.
The federal public defender who represented O’Hern during his initial court appearance Tuesday declined comment. O’Hern is in the process of retaining an attorney.
Authorities say they found images and videos of children being sexually exploited on computer devices in O’Hern’s home after being tipped by postal inspectors.
O’Hern previously practiced in New York’s Hudson Valley region.
Prosecutors said O’Hern is ‘semi-retired,’ but records show he does not have a license to practice medicine in Massachusetts and his New York medical license has lapsed.
