Local man convicted of attempted murder in New Year’s Day stabbing

Jurors convicted a Fort Wayne man today of attempted murder for stabbing a Uniondale man on New Year’s Day.   Cody Stinson, 23, stabbed Mark McVay as they sat in a car with two other people. McVay suffered a severed carotid artery, wounds to his neck and other injuries, according to court documents.   Stinson was charged Jan. 5 in Allen Superior Court with aggravated battery when it includes a substantial risk of death and battery be means of a deadly weapon. Prosecutors filed the attempted murder charge in June.   Jurors : eight women and four men : convicted him on all of the counts.
