3 Arrested in NYC School Attack
NEW YORK (AP) _ Three high school students were arrested Wednesday on charges of beating and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in a school bathroom, officials said Wednesday.
``She was punched in the face. Her hands were bound,″ said Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown. ``She was strangled with a belt and left unconscious.″
The 10th grade victim was found partially clothed with her hands tied behind her back about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bayside High School when a passing student heard someone moaning.
The victim told police she was struck from behind, dragged into a basement bathroom and choked into unconsciousness. A swim meet was taking place nearby.
Three fellow students, 18-year-olds Leon Elkech, Parrish Jones and Jonathan Mendoza, were charged Wednesday with sodomy, kidnapping, sexual abuse and assault, said Deputy Chief Patrick Timlin.
All three made videotaped confessions, Timlin said. None has a prior criminal record.
