Alligator bites deputy while being removed from backyard
LULING, La. (AP) — Police say a Louisiana deputy trying to remove an alligator from a backyard has been bitten by the animal.
NOLA.com / The Times-Picayune reports the bite happened Monday in Luling. Authorities say a St. Charles Parish deputy was attempting to wrangle the alligator with a catch pole when it got loose and bit the deputy in the forearm.
Other deputies held down the reptile and pried its mouth open so the man could free his arm from the gator’s grip.
The deputy was taken to the hospital for deep lacerations and punctures to his right arm. He’s been treated and released.
