Albuquerque mayor meets top officials in Wash, DC
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry has met with members of President Barack Obama’s cabinet to discuss the city’s role in national energy issues and other topics, including the Kirtland Air Force Base fuel spill.
Berry was in Washington on Monday.
He met with Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz and others to discuss Sandia National Labs, research commercialization and technology transfer and what Albuquerque’s role should be on a national level.
Berry also attended Pentagon briefings on the Kirtland spill.
An underground jet fuel pipeline leak was discovered on the base in 1999.
