HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH REUNITE FOR ALBUM AND TOUR

NASHVILLE (AP) — Darius Rucker says the dynamic is still the same when he gets back together with the rest of Hootie and the Blowfish, with one exception: “there’s a lot less alcohol.” Hootie will reunite for the “Group Therapy” tour beginning May 30 in Virginia Beach, with Barenaked Ladies as the opening act. It will mark the 25th anniversary of Hootie’s “Cracked Rear View” album and showcase the new music that’s on the way. Drummer Jim Sonefeld says they had let the band go dormant to spend time with their families, and then Rucker’s country career took off, which let Rucker put a full effort into that. Rucker says he’s looking forward to rocking again after a decade in country music.

QUEEN ANNOUNCES TOUR

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Queen will take advantage of the momentum created by the success of the “Bohemian Rhapsody” film to launch a North American tour with Adam Lambert on vocals. The “Rhapsody” tour will begin July 10 in Vancouver. MARTINA McBRIDE GETS NERVES COOKING ON TV

NASHVILLE (AP) — Martina McBride has no problems singing in front of thousands of people. Chopping vegetables in front of a camera makes her doubt herself. McBride has a cooking show on Food Network and she says it’s a lot different cooking for television than it is in her home kitchen. She says she’ll get self-conscious about whether she’s mixing things right. She says like most things, the more you do it, the easier it gets. McBride has a second cookbook out called “Martina’s Kitchen Mix.” She’s also got a new Christmas album called “It’s The Holiday Season.”

TEDDY RILEY WILL PLAY EMOTIONAL SHOW AT APOLLO THEATER

NEW YORK (AP) — Teddy Riley is going back to the old neighborhood and he will probably cry. Riley and Keith Sweat will headline two shows at New York’s Apollo Theater on Sunday, along with Kool Moe Dee, Doug E. Fresh, Al B. Sure, MC Lyte and members of Guy and Blackstreet. Riley says he’s performing around the corner from where he was raised, and he may get emotional on stage. He says he used to watch famous performers go in the back of the Apollo and that inspired him to become a musician. He has not been back to Harlem in more than 20 years.

IMOGEN HEAP EXPLAINS HOW SHE CREATED MUSIC FOR “HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD”

LONDON (AP) — Imogen Heap brought her own “Box of Tricks” when she wrote the music for the stage production, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.” She created a software program called “Box of Tricks” that contains renditions of all her instruments, plus her vocals and even body percussion. Heap says she sat in on rehearsals and would compose music for the production on the spot. That is, once the show’s creators would let her sit in. Heap says she knew they were using her music for something, but they kept it secret for some time. Heap says even when they told her it was “about a boy with a scar,” she didn’t know what they were talking about because she was unfamiliar with Harry Potter. Heap’s album version, “The Music of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” is out now.
