“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”: “Black Panther” isn’t the only Marvel superhero in the running for an Oscar on Sunday. This inventive, funny adventure, in which Peter Parker is only one of many possible Spider-Men — Miles Morales, a Brooklyn teenager who has taken over the role in some Marvel Comics titles, is the central character — actually is the front-runner in the animated feature category.

“A Star Is Born”: If this were a vinyl album — it’s kind of the movie equivalent, old fashioned but suddenly hot again — you would never play Side 2. The first half of “A Star Is Born” has all the music and romance you want; the second half hits some false notes, as sides 2 do, with Bradley Cooper’s soulful country-rocker becoming a crank and Lady Gaga’s quirky Ally turning into a generic pop star.

Also: “Can You Ever Forgive Me?”, “Overlord,” “Robin Hood”

“Mega Time Squad”: Time travel can be enlightening. Just ask Bill and Ted. On the other hand, this sci-fi comedy from New Zealand asserts, if a dumb criminal discovers how to jump through time, he will use that amazing skill to commit dumb crimes. And likely will ignore the warning about side-effects, which apparently involve a demon.
