Pair of tree workshops to be held this week

September 25, 2018

NORFOLK - The Norfolk Tree Advisory Board, Nebraska Forest Service, and Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District are hosting two free tree workshops Tuesday in Norfolk.

Lower Elkhorn NRD Forester Pam Bergstrom says the first workshop will focus on arboretums across northeast Nebraska, and curators will be giving overviews about their sites and talk about their challenges and successes.

Bergstrom says the second workshop is a chance for you to visit one on one with tree experts.

“Steve Rasmussen with the Nebraska Forest Service, myself, and others will be there so people can bring in samples of their trees. Even if you have a tree that you don’t know what it is bring in some leaves or a branch” Bergstrom said.

She says that workshop will wrap up with a tour of the Skyview Lake Arboretum.

It’s all set for Tuesday with the first workshop taking place 1 to 4 p.m. at the Norfolk Public Library and the second 5:30 to 7 at the north shelter at Skyview just off the 18th and maple street entrance.
