BEIJING (AP) _ A landslide buried a village in southern China early Friday as residents slept, leaving 65 people missing, an official news agency reported.

The landslide hit Zuojiaying, a village in mountainous Guizhou province, at about 3 a.m. the Xinhua News Agency said.

It said 31 people escaped and the search for other villagers was under way.

The report didn't give any other details.
