Author to Speak at Fitchburg Public Library

FITCHBURG -- Fitchburg Public Library presents Brian Glyn Williams who will talk about his book, “The Last Warlord: The Life and Legend of Dostum, the Afghan Warrior Who Led U.S. Special Forces to Topple the Taliban Regime,” in a free session on Sunday, Sept. 23, at 6:30 p.m.

Williams worked for the CIA in Afghanistan and is now a professor of Islamic history at UMass Dartmouth. His books were chosen as one of two books as the basis of the movie “12 Strong: The Declassified Story of the Horse Soldiers.”

Williams will present the real-life story of his book, then discuss his time on the movie set, where actors were able to meet real-life heroes. There will be a time for questions and books will be available for purchase and signing. Light refreshments will be served.
