MONTREAL (AP) _ The Montreal Expos designated first baseman-outfielder Fernando Seguignol and left-hander Joey Eischen for assignment Tuesday night following their 2-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The switch-hitting Seguignol, 26, had just four hits in 30 at-bats with Montreal this season.

Eischen, 30, allowed two hits and two runs in one inning in his only appearance for the Expos on May 11, when his contract was purchased from Triple-A Ottawa.

Montreal has 10 days to trade the pair, release them or send them outright to the minor leagues.

Montreal recalled shortstop Tomas De La Rosa from Triple-A Ottawa and purchased the contract of right-hander Bob Scanlan.

De La Rosa was hitting .196 (21-for-101). Scanlan was 0-1 with 13 saves and a 2.63 ERA.
