Union auxiliary donates equipment to Centennial Park

The auxiliary of a railroad workers union has donated equipment for Centennial Park in memory of one of their members, Antony “Tony” Znaniecki.

The Flatrock Auxiliary 8 of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen donated a bench, along with two spring riders, which look like a race car and a motorcycle.

The equipment is a fitting honor to Znaniecki, who “liked racing dirt bikes and fast cars,” said Travis Kuenning, Division 388 chairman for the Brotherhood. He called Znaniecki “a real full-living” and “all-around good guy” people gravitated to. Znaniecki was well known and liked in the racing world.

The auxiliary, spouses of union members, raised about $4,000 for the equipment and installation, said Kuenning, through personal donations and fundraising activities, raffles and a casino night.

Znaniecki died in a dirt bike accident in 2017, leaving behind his wife, Chari, and two grown sons, Marcus and Corbin.
