Lee County activates no-wake rule on the Rock
DIXON – A no-wake ordinance is in effect on the Rock River in Lee County, which means boats and other watercraft can travel no faster than 5 mph.
Better yet, stay off the river, which is running nearly three times faster than normal, Sheriff John Simonton advised in a news release.
The no-wake restriction will last until river levels fall below the 13-foot flood stage, he said.
The National Weather Service predicts the river will rise higher than 16 feet sometime late Sunday or early Monday, causing flooding in low-lying areas – specifically the Page Park Drive area in Dixon, Woodland Shores and possibly portions of White Oaks Road, the release said
