RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) _ Jermaine Savage hit a running, 3-point bank shot at the buzzer to give Austin Peay a 72-71 win over Eastern Kentucky Saturday in the Ohio Valley Conference.

DeMarkus Doss had given the Colonels (9-7, 3-3 OVC) a 72-70 lead with two free throws with 5.9 seconds left.

The game was close throughout, with nine lead changes and neither team holding more than a nine-point lead.

The first half had seven lead changes and Austin Peay (8-6, 3-2) mustered a 39-35 halftime lead after shooting 56 percent (15-of-27) from the floor.

The Governors shot 58 percent in the second half (11-of-19) but finished the game with 22 turnovers. J.T. Shirer had six of Eastern’s 16 steals.

Savage hit 13 of 16 shots, including three 3-pointers, and led all scorers with 34 points. Bubba Wells added 24 points and eight rebounds for the Governors.

Curtis Fincher scored 20, and Doss added 16 for Eastern.
