Pirates outfielders Jordan Luplow, Gregory Polanco and Starling Marte celebrate after sweeping a doubleheader against Brewers Saturday, July 14, 2018, at PNC Park.

Jordan Luplow and Sean Rodriguez were in the Pirates’ starting lineup Thursday, replacing left fielder Corey Dickerson (hamstring) and center fielder Starling Marte (wrist). Both players were injured in Cleveland, Dickerson on Tuesday and Marte on Wednesday.

Luplow batted leadoff for the second time in his career Thursday night against the New York Mets after going 0 for 4 in that spot the day before in Cleveland. Hurdle said that was an easier move than disrupting the rest of his lineup.

“There comes a point in time where I’m still looking for some stabilization, rather than moving six guys, five guys,” he said. “The other guys seemed to respond to where they’re at.

″(Luplow) has usable speed. He’s got some barrel to his bat. What the heck. We’re trying to break the record.”

Luplow is the 11th leadoff hitter the Pirates have used this season.
