MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) _ Nebraska upset No. 22 North Carolina 81-75 on Wednesday night at the Carolinas Holiday Beach Classic.

North Carolina (4-2) had a chance to tie it in the final seconds, but Kate Galligan stole a pass, made a layup and added two foul shots to seal the win for the Cornhuskers (9-1).

Nebraska, the only unranked team in the winners’ bracket, was led by Galligan’s game-high 22 points. Her outside shooting opened things up for Pyra Aarden, who scored 20 in the paint.

Aarden had eight straight points in a 16-2 run as the Huskers opened their biggest lead at 60-47.

North Carolina’s Tracy Reid and Yanick Clay led the Tar Heels’ comeback. Clay hit a pair of jumpers to cut the deficit to two in the final minute, and Reid scored to make it 77-75 with 21 seconds left.

Reid then stole the ball to set up the potential tying basket, but Galligan’s steal, free throws and layup assured the win for the Huskers.

Reid paced the Tar Heels with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Tracy Sadler added 15 points, and Chanel Wright turned in 11.

Nebraska’s Anna DeForge and Tina McClain scored 16 and 13 points, respectively.

The Huskers will play No. 10 Georgia in Thursday’s championship game. North Carolina will take on Iowa in the consolation game.
