Zendesk: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Zendesk Inc. (ZEN) on Tuesday reported a loss of $33.3 million in its fourth quarter.

The San Francisco-based company said it had a loss of 31 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 10 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 13 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 3 cents per share.

The customer-service software maker posted revenue of $172.2 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Ten analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $165.9 million.

For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $131.1 million, or $1.24 per share. Revenue was reported as $598.7 million.

For the current quarter ending in April, Zendesk said it expects revenue in the range of $178 million to $180 million.

The company expects full-year revenue in the range of $795 million to $805 million.

Zendesk shares have risen 18 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $68.60, an increase of 85 percent in the last 12 months.
