HELENA _ Montana lawmakers heard public testimony Saturday on two bills with different visions for continuing the state’s Medicaid expansion program that insures nearly one out of every 10 residents, and which will expire this summer unless the Legislature acts. The House Human Services committee began with testimony on a bill by Democratic Rep. Mary Caferro that seeks to make permanent the program much as it has been since it began in 2016, including charging premiums. FOSTER TEEN RAPE _ A 29-year-old Montana man has been charged with raping and impregnating his teen foster daughter. The Billings Gazette reports that the man, whose name can’t be disclosed without identifying the daughter, has pleaded not guilty to a single count of sexual intercourse without consent.
PRERELEASE WALKAWAY DEATH _ Montana authorities say a 30-year-old who walked away from a prerelease center in Helena has been found dead. The Independent Record reports that Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton says Devin Shea Deaton was found dead Wednesday at a hotel in Helena.
BOISE, Idaho _ Montana meets Eastern Washington in the championship game of the Big Sky Conference tournament Saturday night. Game starts 6 p.m.
