Ronstadt Stalker May Be At It Again
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) _ A man convicted in 1998 of stalking singer Linda Ronstadt is accused of doing it again.
Prosecutors say 55-year-old Bernie Salazar Ortiz sent letters and a package to Ronstadt’s brother Michael at his Tucson-area home between Nov. 9 and April 30. In the package: a 59-page handwritten letter, a gold bracelet with jewels, a gold cross and three cassette tapes.
Ortiz was arrested May 6 outside an arena west of Phoenix hours before Ronstadt was scheduled to perform.
He pleaded guilty in 1998 to attempted stalking for sending letters and gifts to Ronstadt. He was released from jail last June.
