Sylvia French

Sylvia I. French, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Sunset Ridge in Johnson Creek. She was born on June 24, 1932, in Lebanon to August and Linda (Christian) Kopfer.

Sylvia married Raymond French on Nov. 1, 1952. He preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1986. Sylvia worked at Bethesda Lutheran Homes in Watertown for many years until her retirement. She was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Mary Martha circle. Sylvia enjoyed gardening and loved to go dancing and enjoyed country music. She is survived by her family, sons Jeffrey French of Watertown, Michael (Debra) French of Fort Atkinson; granddaughter Lisa (Grady) Fritz of Johnson Creek; step great-granddaughters, Brittney Fritz, Brooklyn Fritz and her brother Roger (Mildred) Kopfer of Ashippun.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond French, granddaughter Angela Cloute and other relatives.

Funeral services for Sylvia will be held at 1 p.m. today at Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson, with Chaplin Steve Steele officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon until the time of services. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be given in Sylvia’s name to Rainbow Hospice or to the Humane Society of Jefferson County.
