PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) _ Following Hewlett-Packard Co.'s $19 billion acquisition of Compaq Computer Corp., HP shares will have a new ticker symbol starting Monday and Compaq stock will no longer be traded.

Hewlett-Packard is changing its symbol on the New York Stock Exchange to HPQ from HWP.

Investors in Compaq, which will no longer exist as a separate company, will receive 0.6325 of a Hewlett-Packard share for each Compaq share they own.

HP is keeping its name and headquarters in Palo Alto. The companies will begin business together Tuesday.
