Woman, grandson killed in Louisiana fire
BASTROP, La. (AP) — A woman and her grandson have died in a fire in north Louisiana.
It happened early Friday in Bastrop. The State Fire Marshal says in a news release that fire crews were dispatched about 4 a.m. to the residence.
Firefighters found the bodies of 56-year-old Margene Williams and 8-year-old Samarion Galvin in a bedroom of the wood-frame house. The bodies have been turned over to the Morehouse Parish coroner for autopsy.
A 24-year-old woman and her 2-year-old daughter were also in the home. They were treated at a hospital and released.
The cause of the fire was under investigation. The release says the fire started in the living room. The house had no working smoke alarms.
