Man stabbed to death in Stamford
STAMFORD — Police detectives are working to find the person responsible for killing a man on Frederick Street on Wednesday night while a suspect is being questioned by police.
Capt. Richard Conklin said the man - who was not identified - was stabbed to death.
Police were dispatched to Frederick Street and Cove Road at 9:54 p.m. Wednesday on the report of a man who had been stabbed and had collapsed.
Conklin said there was a trail of blood from where the man was stabbed and where he collapsed.
The Fire Department was called to wash away the blood on the street and sidewalk.
Sgt. Sean Boeger said the 54-year-old man was pronounced dead at Stamford Hospital. Boeger said he would not get into the specifics of the case, but said the death will be ruled a homicide.
“For the sake of the integrity of the case, I cannot answer specific questions, but we will at a later date,” Boeger said.
Boeger said that evidence points to the assault taking place inside a residence on Frederick Street.
“We have a person we are speaking to,” Boeger said. “The patrol division and major crimes unit have been working on this case since last evening and we are continuing to work on it at the present time.”
The death marks the second homicide in Stamford this year. On March 30, Stephon Walthrust of Queens was shot and killed in Stamford’s South End.
