Rhumbix Announces Android Application Providing Field Collection Data and Sharing From Virtually Any Device

September 11, 2018

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 11, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Rhumbix, a powerful mobile platform designed for smarter construction sites, has announced a system update that will now allow field data to be collected from both iOS and Android devices and shared seamlessly between both mobile and the web application.

Rhumbix, which recently closed an $8M funding round led by industry leader Autodesk, Inc., initially built its Field Intelligence Platform™ on the iOS mobile operating system. With the inclusion of the Android platform, now available in the Google Play Store, any mobile device now provides the same intuitive user operation while maintaining real-time data delivery to project stakeholders. The result is a “one size fits all” digital solution for general contractors, subcontractors, and owners by offering one tool to collect any field-level data from timekeeping to fieldwork orders and more.

“Our goal with any update is to better serve our users,” said Rhumbix CEO Zach Scheel. “With this Android offering we’re actually serving a new segment of users which, according to our research, makes up roughly half of the job site workforce. And by funneling all data through a universal platform, with the ability to share between all devices, we’re now fully inclusive from end-to-end.”

In a frequently sourced report by McKinsey Global Institute, the construction industry was listed as the 21st least digitized industry of the 22 analyzed. Much of this is due to the fragmented nature of projects which leads to less productivity. According to McKinsey, the result is a $1.6 Trillion cost to the global economy. But this is changing quickly as more investors recognize the potential for growth and new digital tools are developed and integrated. Rhumbix focuses on bringing its tools to the job site to help eliminate the gap between the office and field.

“We take a workers first approach to everything we do at Rhumbix,” said Scheel. “When we first started there was a learning curve for early adapters who embraced field technology. But that allowed us to address their issues to better grow and fine-tune our service. We’re confident Android users will have a seamless transition as they move away from paper to see the results of digitization on the bottom line.”
