Fitchburg, Leominster Issue Parking Bans
Sentinel & Enterprise staff
Parking bans have been announced in Fitchburg and Leominster with the approaching snowstorm that is expected to start Tuesday afternoon.
Fitchburg’s ban will begin at noon Tuesday and continue until noon on Wednesday.
The duration of the ban will be adjusted if weather and road conditions make it appropriate to do so, said Fitchburg’s Department of Public Works Commission Lenny Laakso.
There is no parking on all city streets during the parking ban and that includes metered parking spaces on streets. Vehicles that are parked in violation of the parking ban are subject to ticketing and/or removal at the owner’s expense. Property owners are reminded that they are responsible for keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice adjacent to their property per the City Code, said Laakso.
In Leominster, the ban, called by the Police Department, went into effect at midnight Monday and will continue until at least 6 a.m., according to the Leominster Police Department.
Please keep the roads clear by moving your vehicles, said the department.
