GOV. TOM CORBETT STILL WORKING ON STATE LIQUOR STORE PRIVATIZATION
Corbett fought for privatization during last year’s budget negotiations but wasn’t able to get the change through the Legislature. But now he says “there is a lot of discussion going on” regarding the liquor stores that the public doesn’t know about.
PITTSBURGH POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN BAR SHOOTING THAT KILLED 1, WOUNDED FOUR
Police arrested 27-year-old Corey Clark, of Penn Hills, in the shooting death of 27-year-old Vincent Edward Holt Jr. The shooting happened at about 1 a.m. Saturday at the Rendezvous Phase III bar in the city’s crime-ridden Homewood neighborhood.

A 47-year-old Philadelphia man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for firing a weapon into the air at an outdoor party in June 2012. Francis Aponte’s act became a federal crime because he has a felony record, which makes it illegal for him to use a weapon.
ATTORNEY SAYS NORTHEASTERN PA MAN WILL PLEAD GUILTY TO THREATENING TO KILL PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA LAST YEAR
The defense attorney says there’s no evidence Nicholas Savino intended to carry out the threat. The attorney is hoping Savino will be sentenced to time served in jail since his arrest last year. The Clarks Summit man is charged with emailing the White House on Aug. 16 calling Obama the Antichrist and threatening to shoot him. Savino was arrested a week later, just before Obama visited nearby Scranton.
CANADIAN COMPANY PLANNING FACILITY TO CONVERT NATURAL GAS TO GASOLINE, PROPANE
Calgary-based EmberClear Corp. is seeking governmental approval to build the facility on 63 acres in South Heidelberg Township, near Reading.
